ENG 116 Communication Skills II                          

This is a non-credit course compulsory for the students who fall short of the expected English proficiency level by close margin. A continuation of ENG 115, this course is designed to help the students to acquire a deeper understanding of the language use and a higher level of lexis through the use of authentic academic texts on various themes. The course content is organized in such a way that students will become equipped with the language skills to express themselves both in oral and written form in an academic environment, as well as with the necessary learning strategies which will contribute to their overall academic success. The course activities aim at preparing students for academic work and the world of information they will encounter during their university life. Students’ performance at the end of the semester will be assessed on the basis of ‘S’ (satisfactory) or ‘U’ (unsatisfactory) grading system and students will not be able to graduate unless they score ‘S’ in this course.
